Always check the specific requirements listed for the programme you're interested in before applying, and don't count yourself out without checking first.
Yes, learners on a registered learnership receive a monthly stipend. The amount varies depending on the programme, the funder, and the qualification, so check what's offered before you accept. A stipend is an allowance to support you while you learn and work — it's not a full salary, but it helps cover essentials like transport and food. Legitimate learnerships lead to qualifications registered on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) and are delivered by providers accredited with the relevant SETA or the QCTO. Before enrolling anywhere, ask the provider for their accreditation details — a credible provider will share them openly. Mogapi Education's training is accredited, and we encourage every applicant to verify this for themselves.
You finish with a recognised qualification and months of real workplace experience on your CV. From there, pathways differ: some learners are employed by their host organisation, some find work elsewhere, others continue studying or start their own ventures. No programme can guarantee a job, but across our network, ongoing support and tracking continue after completion, because the goal is absorption into employment — not just a certificate.
It depends on who funds the programme. On the large majority of learnerships we run, learners are paid at least the National Minimum Wage — R30.23 per hour from 1 March 2026, which works out to about R5,240 a month on a 40-hour week. Some SETA-funded learnerships start on the SETA's lower stipend, typically R2,500 a month, and that is normally topped up to the minimum wage from the second or third month of the project. Yes. Every YES Youth placement we run pays at least the National Minimum Wage — R30.23 per hour from 1 March 2026 — for the full 12 months. YES placements are not learnerships: there is no qualification attached, and they are never paid a reduced SETA stipend. (Figures checked August 2026.)
